How far the consulate is from your city
Driving distances to the post that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:
| City | Philippine post | Distance | Journey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nampa | Seattle | 473 miles | 8 h 48 min by car |
| Meridian | Seattle | 482 miles | 8 h 58 min by car |
| Boise | Seattle | 491 miles | 9 h 9 min by car |
| Idaho Falls | Seattle | 769 miles | 13 h 30 min by car |
From Idaho Falls that is 13 h 30 min by car each way, which makes it worth checking the consular outreach schedule before committing to the drive: missions bring passport and dual citizenship services to cities without a post, and the appointments are free.
Before you plan the journey
Three of the most searched Philippine procedures in the United States are not consular procedures at all, and knowing that is worth more than knowing the opening hours:
- PSA certificates — birth, marriage, death, CENOMAR — come from the Philippine Statistics Authority and are ordered online.
- Apostilles on documents issued in Idaho come from the state’s own competent authority. Since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them.
- NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines and applied for by mail; only the fingerprint card needs a consular officer.
Set against that, three things cannot be delegated or posted: passport biometrics, the RA 9225 oath, and signing a notarial document in front of a consular officer. For those, the trip is unavoidable.
Boise to Seattle is an hour and a half by air, against a considerably longer trip to the Bay Area. The reopening of Seattle is the single biggest improvement in consular access the Pacific Northwest has had in years.
